It’s very unusual for what starts as casual genealogy family
search NOT to turn into a full blown passion. Whether you have a lot of time to
devote, or a bit here and there … whether it is a private endeavor,
or one you share with your entire circle of
relatives … having a passion like this one will enhance your life no
end. I discovered this quickly as I began my family search.
Let me tell you something you can’t really understand until
you experience it. There is a highly charged emotional connection ignited as you begin to
research your family tree. At times you
won’t believe the chills and 'gut wrenching' that goes on as you find an ancestor
with whom you vibrantly resonate.
Okay, I’ll say it. You fall in love with
them. And you soar as you vibrate with the understanding of your ancestors' humanity.
It is a breathtaking experience. And this appreciation uplifts you on every level. Truly, there is nothing
like it.
These days a common adage suggests that you 'enjoy the
journey' and not just focus on 'the destination'. In most cases this translates to 'you’re stuck with this particular situation
for now, so you might as well enjoy it'. In the case of genealogy you’ll find that you will truly relish the journey -- the ‘detective work’ -- as must as the thrill of ‘the
find’.
And sometimes it can be astonishingly easy.
For
example, I discovered from
my mother that we have a direct
connection to a Hollywood actress
from the 1940’s/50’s era.
It seems
that my mother is the only
living member of our family who knew
this; it had just
never come up until I
engaged her in a ‘trace our family tree’
conversation.
That's my actress. Isn't she an awesome beauty?
Never assume that you’ll have to do too much digging to unearth some
fabulous gems. It’s often mind-boggling just how much information relatives have that they’ve never shared because they have never been asked. And what a shame if
no one ever asks!
And that’s just the beginning. One that you will never want to end. And,
thankfully, unless you successfully trace your family tree back to the first man and woman on
earth, one that will never run out of steam.
So, why this site?
Well, frankly, because there is too much information out there.
Especially on
the internet. Tons of blogs. Lots of authority websites. And, for me at least,
they were not what I needed. Too much information. TOO MUCH!
When I visited blogs or content filled websites, I always felt like I had entered
a room half-way through a conversation that had been going
on for a long, long time. I couldn't quite follow. I had to catch up before
I could really understand what was going on. And there’s just too much navigating to find the information I really needed.
That was not how I wanted to spend my time,... playing catch up so I could begin.
I persevered, thankfully. But it was almost enough to make me call it quits a few times. But I took my all experiences and narrowed down the steps, and that got me where I wanted to go on my family search.
Now I'd like to share the first of those steps with you. To help you begin
